About Sam Menzin

Raised in Westbury, New York, and a graduate of Swarthmore College, Sam Menzin passion for sports began early. His curiosity for what happens “behind the scenes” led him to pursue a career that combined analytics, player development, and strategic management at the highest level.

After early roles with Turner-Gary Sports and the Complete Game Institute, Sam joined the Detroit Tigers, where he rose to become Vice President & Assistant General Manager. Over more than a decade in Detroit’s front office, he played a key role in player acquisition, organizational strategy, capital allocation, and performance management — earning a reputation as a data-driven, forward-thinking leader.

Building on that foundation, Sam launched SJM Sports — an advisory firm designed to help investors and ownership groups evaluate, acquire, and grow sports-related assets.
